The NCHA Triple Crown is comprised of three of the most elite shows in the cutting industry: the World Championship Futurity, the Super Stakes, and the Summer Cutting Spectacular - all three held in Fort Worth, TX.
It takes a talented equine athlete to win any one of these events - but only a truly outstanding horse can win all three during their three-year-old and four-year-old years. The triple crown has only been accomplished by a handful of horses in the entire history of NCHA. Only three Open horses and one Non-Pro horse have claimed the Triple Crown title.

The Futurity is restricted to 3-year-old cutting horses that have never been shown in judged competition. Founded in 1962, the NCHA Futurity was the sport’s first “limited age” event. With a purse approaching $5 million, it is the world’s richest indoor horse event and is contested over 27 consecutive days through November and December. The Futurity showcases the sport’s emerging talent and provides an inside look at the next generation of great horses to share the stage in one of the world’s most lucrative equine sports.
A purse of over $3 million is up for grabs at this event. 4-year-old horses compete in the Super Stakes Derby and its companion event for 5/6 year-olds, the Super Stakes Classic. Horses competing at the Super Stakes must be an offspring of a NCHA Stallion and Foal program subscribed stallions. They are usually nominated as weanlings - which helps to put the spotlight on the cutting horse breeder. The event is held over 20 days in March and April. This is the only show in the Triple Crown series that is considered a "closed show" because the horses must be enrolled in the Stallion and Foal Program.
The Summer Spectacular is held in July. It is the final leg of the NCHA Triple Crown of Cutting and is contested over 20 days. It features the NCHA Derby for 4-year-olds and the NCHA Classic Challenge for 5/6-year-olds and offers a purse of over $2 million. The Summer Cutting Spectacular is known as the third jewel in the NCHA Triple Crown. Running concurrently with the Summer Spectacular is the Youth World Finals, along with the NCHA Military Cutting Challenge.
