NCHA FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE ACCELERATION OF THE LEGACY GIFT MADE BY MR. & MRS. GARY & KAREN FIELDS OF WEATHERFORD, TEXAS IN SUPPORT OF ANIMAL WELFARE

Jun 23, 2026, 17:00 PM by National Cutting Horse Association
The NCHA Foundation has received an accelerated legacy gift of more than $600,000 from Gary and Karen Fields of Weatherford, Texas, providing immediate funding for animal welfare initiatives and strengthening the Foundation’s long-term impact on the cutting horse industry.

FORT WORTH, Texas – The National Cutting Horse Association Foundation proudly announces the transformational legacy gift from Weatherford, Texas residents Gary and Karen Fields in support of the Foundation’s Animal Welfare tenet, ensuring a lasting impact on the cutting horse industry for generations to come.

The two-fold commitment from Mr. and Mrs. Fields, which includes a planned estate gift component, has been fast tracked. With the first portion of the pledge originally structured as a five-year commitment, the Fields have elected to fulfill this portion of commitment in full, providing the funding immediately for use by the NCHA Foundation. The gift, valued at over six hundred thousand dollars, will directly support the Foundation’s Animal Welfare initiatives and significantly expand the scope and impact of projects that can be undertaken in the years ahead.

Of their commitment, Mr. Fields shared, “Karen and I are proud to support the NCHA Foundation and specifically the Animal Welfare tenet. Care for our equine partners is of the utmost importance to us. We look forward to advancements in this area.”

Initial support of the NCHA Foundation’s Animal Welfare efforts was spearheaded in early 2023 with the creation of the Dr. Glenn Blodgett Animal Welfare Fund. The Fields’ gift will directly support this fund, which concentrates on animal welfare initiatives with focus on the sport of cutting. By making their contribution available immediately, the Fields have accelerated the Foundation’s ability to invest in meaningful research, education, and welfare-focused projects.

The gift’s planned estate component will further strengthen the Foundation’s ability to support the cutting horse industry in the future and develop long-term strategies across all areas of focus.

“The NCHA Foundation is incredibly grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Fields for their extraordinary generosity and belief in our mission,” said Julia Buswold, NCHA Foundation Executive Director. “Their decision to fulfill this commitment in full will allow us to immediately advance critical animal welfare initiatives and provides the Foundation with the resources needed to create a greater impact across all of our mission areas. We hope their commitment to the future of the cutting horse industry inspires others to join us in our efforts to educate our youth, protect the horse, preserve our past, and secure the future of the sport.”
