THE NCHA MOURNS THE LOSS OF LANK CREACY

It is with great sadness that the NCHA announces the passing of Lank Creacy.

FORT WORTH, TX – It is with a heavy heart that the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) announces the passing of lifetime member Lank Creacy. Born on January 2, 1944, Creacy passed away on February 3, 2025.

As a lifetime member of the NCHA, Creacy loved all things cowboy. He loved ranching, rodeo, and cutting horses. Over the 50 years that he was with the NCHA, Creacy rode Winning Doc, Ginnin Around, Miss Quixote Bar, Little Angel Pep, Padre Pop and more. He also participated as a trainer, judge, and competitor. Throughout his lifetime, he worked on renowned ranches such as the Sanford Ranch, 6666, Moorhouse Cattle Company, King Ranch, and McGehee Ranch, to name a few. 

In his earlier years, Creacy attended Sul Ross University and was inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame. Besides riding cutting horses, he rode bareback horses and saddle bronc. He was a member of the PRCA, NCHA and AQHA. 

Creacy is survived by his wife, Eva; daughter, Holly Creacy Williams and husband Curtis; grandchildren, Curtis Williams, Jr., Jade Rudolph, Lank Rudolph and wife Kim, Flint Creacy, and mother Schelli Creacy Mortimer and husband Adrian; great grandchildren; Hazelynn, Grayson, Lorelai, Ziggie, Kaylee, Bryanna, Dillin, Paige, Maddie, and Cash; brother, Donald Creacy and wife Shirley; and brother, Clarence Creacy.

Creacy, over his lifetime had several special friends; Billy Chipps and Billy Branch, Tommy Bullard (deceased), Tommy Houston (deceased), Carl Christiansen (deceased), Buddy Murrell (deceased), and George Bunn (deceased).

Besides his parents, Creacy was also preceded in death by his son, John Add Creacy; his daughter, Robyn Creacy; brother, Linnie Creacy; and sister, Judy Whitson.

Creacy’s favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23, and he would encourage everyone to reflect on its meaning.

Services were held in early February.

The NCHA will always remember his dedication to the sport of cutting and remember our time with him fondly.
