FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Sandy Sokol Secretary of the Year Award. This award will be presented at this year’s NCHA convention in San Antonio, Texas. It honors the late Sandy Sokol, a beloved long-time NCHA secretary. The award is given annually to an exceptional NCHA secretary who is nominated by NCHA members.
Sandy Sokol was a longtime cutting horse event secretary from Brenham, Texas. Sokol coordinated results from Bluebonnet Cutting Horse Association events, served as secretary for the American Cutting Horse Association, and worked in the show department at the NCHA. Sandy was loved by everyone who knew her, and her greatest joy was her family, kids, and the cutting horse family. Sokol passed after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer.
If you would like to nominate somebody, please submit your nomination to NCHA Manager of Approved Events, Linda Smith at lsmith@nchacutting.com. The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 21, 2025.
Previous recipients include Dee McLauchlin, Jessi Vandiver, Vicki Green, Kathryn Webb, Cheryl Callis, Gwen Coie, Marcy Blanchard, Carolyn Gully (awarded posthumously to Murlene Mowery), and Judy Boozer.
