FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) expresses deep sorrow at the passing of Mike Farris from Madisonville, Texas. Michael Don Farris, 65, made his glorious entrance into the world on September 7, 1959, in Madisonville, Texas, and passed away on September 17, 2024.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughters, Reygan Richardson and Riley Hope Farris. Mike's influence on the NYCHA extended beyond his role as a father. He was consistently present at events, practices, and competitions, tirelessly working to motivate and guide young participants. His commitment to the principles of horsemanship, sportsmanship, and leadership helped shape the futures of many young competitors.
In addition to his active involvement, Mike was a steadfast supporter of NYCHA fundraisers, educational initiatives, and leadership programs, always advocating for the development of youth members in and out of the arena. Rianna Storey, NCHA Director of Youth, expressed, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike Farris' family during this difficult time. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all whom he mentored and inspired. The association is immensely grateful for his countless contributions, and he will be greatly missed."
Mike's contributions to the NYCHA will be warmly remembered by the entire community. His enthusiasm for the cutting horse sport, his kindness, and his generous spirit have left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation for Mike has been scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2024, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the chapel of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. A funeral service for Mike will take place at the Cattleman's Pavilion in Madisonville, Texas on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 10 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in the Midway Cemetery.
