KAY PLEDGER WRAY, A REMARKABLE WOMAN AND NCHA MEMBER

Beloved NCHA member Kay Pledger Wray passed away on March 9, 2024.

FORT WORTH - It is with a heavy heart that the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) mourns the passing of Kay Pledger Wray, who left us on March 9, 2024, at the age of 77. Kay was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many people through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

Kay was born on January 28, 1947, in Danville to Clarence and Evelyn Pledger. She grew up in a loving family that instilled in her a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others. A 1968 graduate of Arkansas Tech, Kay earned her degree in Education and later went on to receive her Master's Degree from the University of Central Arkansas.

Kay's passion for education flourished at Sequoyah Elementary School for four decades, where she touched the lives of numerous students and colleagues as a devoted fifth-grade teacher and compassionate school counselor. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and love resonated deeply with all who had the privilege of knowing her, especially the children whom she counseled during times of need.

Kay was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) for 46 years and was actively involved in the organization. She enjoyed attending shows and events and was passionate about the sport of cutting. Kay was a strong supporter of various programs within the NCHA and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Kay's memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 57 years, Lewis Wray; her devoted sons and daughter-in-law, Hunter Maxwell Wray and Maggie Wray, and Scott Wray; and her beloved grandchildren, Tinley, Paisley, Hadley, Max, and Baxley. She also leaves behind a host of family and friends who were deeply touched by her love and generosity.
