FORT WORTH - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of John Houston Paxton, a beloved member of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) community. His passing is deeply felt by all who knew him.
John was an accomplished cutting horse enthusiast and was a respected member of the NCHA. He was known for his passion and dedication to the sport and was highly regarded by his peers. Doc’s Otoetta, the horse John rode when he was awarded the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Non-Pro World Champion title, was like a beloved member of the Paxton family. John was honored to be inducted into the NCHA Non-Professional Rider Hall of Fame. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire NCHA community.
A celebration of the life of John Houston Paxton of Starkville, Mississippi, will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Tallulah, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. in the church.
The family has requested that memorials be sent to Grace Presbyterian Church in Starkville, https://gracestarkville.org/ or to the Delta-Chi Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Mississippi State University to establish the David M. (Boo) Ferriss Scholarship – Leadership Award, which will be awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate fraternity member, https://donate.sajgiving.com/.
