NCHA ANNOUNCES THE PASSING OF WILLIAM BRETT JOHNSON

Feb 1, 2024, 10:01 AM by National Cutting Horse Association
Brett Johnson, a long-time supporter of NCHA, passed away on December 20, 2023.

On December 20, 2023, our beloved Brett Johnson finished his race and met his Savior face-to-face. We know that he was warmly greeted with "Well done, my good and faithful servant".

Each one of us has been blessed by Brett, and his presence will be deeply missed. He was hard-working, passionate, and loved the Lord with all of his heart. Brett was a man of many passions; including being, among many things, a Pilot, a true Cowboy, and a Guitarist. He was a man of great determination, and anything he set his mind to, he could figure out and master. But his one over-arching passion was to share the love of God with everyone. He taught us all how to live a life of trust in the Lord and was never afraid to take a risk; living out Philippians 4:13 wholeheartedly, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". He was unashamed of his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and never missed an opportunity to share that faith with others. He had a true gift of drawing people in and touching their hearts and his zeal for the Lord was truly unmatched.

Brett was a devoted and loving husband, father and "P-pops". He worked hard to provide for his family and ensure that they had the best life he could possibly give them. He was unconditionally generous and truly a selfless man who left behind a legacy of faith and determination to his loved ones. He was a faithful husband, father, entrepreneur, and servant of the Lord. He ran his race with endurance to the very end and has inspired countless others to fight the good fight of the faith.

Brett is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shaye, his daughter, Sierra Jones and husband, Sam; son Brody Johnson and wife, Haden; father, Kerry Johnson and mother, Laurel; brothers, Bradley Johnson and wife, Lynette; Stacy Johnson and wife, Janette; father-in-law, Billy Carpenter, and mother-in-law, St. Claire; brother-in-law, Brandon Carpenter and wife, Tina; grandson, Bear Moses Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to consider making a donation to building The Tabernacle at Cornerstone Church in Stephenville (cornerstoneforchrist.org) or to Reins-N-Hands nonprofit (reinsinhands.org) in Midland. These are two ministries that Brett believed in and meant a lot to him.
