FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association proudly announces that nominations are now open for the 2024 Sandy Sokol Show Secretary of the Year Award. The award will be presented at this year’s NCHA convention in Nashville, TN. The award is presented in honor of the late Sandy Sokol, a long-time and well-loved NCHA secretary. This award is given annually to an outstanding NCHA secretary who is nominated by NCHA members.
Sandy Sokol was a longtime cutting horse event secretary from Brenham, Texas. Sokol coordinated results from Bluebonnet Cutting Horse Association events, served as secretary for the American Cutting Horse Association, and worked in the show department at the NCHA. Sandy was loved by everyone who knew her, and her greatest joy was her family, kids, and the cutting horse family. Sokol passed after a courageous nine-year battle with cancer.
If you would like to nominate somebody, please submit your nomination to NCHA Manager of Approved Events, Linda Smith at lsmith@nchacutting.com. The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 9, 2024.
Previous recipients include Kathryn Webb, Cheryl Callis, Gwen Coie, Marcy Blanchard, Carolyn Gully (awarded posthumously to Murlene Mowery), and Judy Boozer.
