NCHA ANNOUNCES THE PASSING OF DORVAN SOLBERG

Jan 26, 2024, 12:55 PM by National Cutting Horse Association
Dorvan Solberg, an NCHA member since 1968, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

FORT WORTH – On Sunday, January 21, 2024, Dorvan Solberg, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 89. Solberg has been a long-time member of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) since 1968.

Over his time with the NCHA, he served diligently as a judge for over 35 years and as an active member, competing in the cutting pen for over 50 years. In 2016, he was in the top 15 for the NCHA Senior World Tour. Growing up a rancher, Solberg dedicated his life to the industry. Positions he held included North Dakota Cutting Horse Association Director Emeritus, AQHA Director Emeritus, Ray Lutheran Church Council, Williams County Farmers Union, and he was inducted in 2020 to the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame.

Solberg’s legacy lives on in the ranching community and NCHA, where his encouragement in the cutting pen is still profoundly felt. He is survived by his wife Eileen, and four daughters. His love for the sport of cutting has been passed on to family members who also compete in the NCHA.

A memorial service will be held on January 28, 2024, at 2 P.M. at the Touchmark Living Center’s Auditorium in Fargo, North Dakota.
