Dec 18, 2023, 11:11 AM by National Cutting Horse Association
Remembering a pillar of the western industry, Burt Bull.

FORT WORTH – It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a leader in the cutting and western communities, Mr. Burt Bull of Riviera, Texas. Burt passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 29th. A devoted horseman, cattleman, and true gentleman, he left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A pillar of western industry, Burt was the proud owner and steward of Los Jaboncillos Ranch in Riviera, Texas. His commitment to the land, his livestock, and traditions of the American West was truly inspiring. His dedication to the ranching lifestyle was not just a profession; it was a passion that radiated from him and touched all those fortunate enough to share in his journey.

Known for his unwavering integrity and kind spirit, Burt was loved and respected by many within the western community. Burt's legacy extends beyond the fences of Los Jaboncillos; it lives on in the stories of his passion for the western way of life which shone with unparalleled brilliance, and perhaps nowhere more evident than when he spoke about his beloved stallion, Metallic Rey Mink.

In 2019, with NCHA Hall of Fame rider Gary Bellenfant aboard, Mink clinched the prestigious NCHA Futurity Open Champion title, a crowning achievement that underscored Bull’s remarkable dedication to the sport and business he so deeply loved. Metallic Rey Mink wasn't just a champion in the arena; he was a reflection of Burt's commitment to excellence in the cutting horse world.

Burt’s impact was not limited to his achievements in the equine community and on the ranch. He was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light for many who sought his counsel. His generosity, genuine kindness, and sense of humor made him a beloved figure in the tight-knit community of Riviera, where he will be sorely missed.

In reflecting on Burt’s life, let us celebrate the legacy of a man who embodied the true spirit of the West. As we mourn his passing, let us also remember the lessons he taught us about hard work, dedication to family, and the profound bond between a cowboy and the land
