FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association is pleased to announce the Arthur Jackson Memorial Award recipient, Mike Combs, during the 2023 NCHA Metallic Cat World Championship Futurity. This is the second year this award will be honored in remembrance of long-time NCHA judge, Arthur Jackson of Greenwood, MS.
Combs is a life-long cutting horse trainer, following in the footsteps of his father. His passion started as a young teenager when he was asked to judge in Corsicana at a cutting competition in 1968. After figuring out he had an eye for horses, Combs applied for his judge's card and worked as a judge monitor with the NCHA from 1996-2000. He currently resides in Tolar, Texas where he works and trains cutting horses.
“I knew Arthur really well…he was a really good friend. I had a great deal of respect for his integrity and the way he promoted the NCHA,” said Combs in regards to receiving the Arthur Jackson Memorial Award. “In my opinion, you would never run across a better guy and I am honored to receive this award.”
“We are proud to honor the memory of Arthur Jackson with this award and cannot think of a better individual to present it to. Congratulations Mike Combs on years of hard work and dedication. The NCHA is built on the characteristics and passion that both Arthur Jackson and Mike Combs have displayed,” said Jay Winborn, Executive Director of the NCHA.
