FORT WORTH – The National Cutting Horse Association is pleased to announce that Bell County Cutting Horse Association has been named the 2021 NCHA Affiliate of the Year with Beef Empire Cutting Horse Association winning 2021 NCHA Reserve Affiliate of the Year.
The Bell County Cutting Horse Association is based out of Belton, Texas, and hosts shows throughout the year at the new climate-contolled Equine/Livestock Complex at the Bell County Expo Center. Nearby hotels and an abundance of restaurants in both Belton and Temple, Texas, draw competitors from across the state and beyond. Bell County CHA hosted the inaugraul Alamo Circuit Finals in 2021. This outstanding three day event included 421 horses worked with $58,000 awarded to competitors.
Bell County CHA is known for producing great shows with a fun atmosphere, and their events have featured live music from artists such as Garrett Bradford and Chaser Crouch. Several fundraisers held in conjunction with their shows have raised thousands of dollars for both scholarships and charitable organizations. Show secretary Cary Sims knows the importance of keeping cuttings both affordable and fun, drawing on the knowledge she has gained working as a show secretary for 35 years.
“Brad Buckley, Bell County CHA president and Texas State Representative, is great to work with,” said Sims. “I would be remiss if I didn't give a LOT of credit to our show staff, from our cowman, Dana, to our stall clerk and practice pen manager, Deb, grounds manager and my husband, Richard, and the announcer who is our daughter, Molly. These shows are the result of teamwork and constantly striving to make them bigger and better. I'm very proud of what we have accomplished thus far in Belton and excited to see what the future holds.”
