Barlow and Perry top the 4YO Int. Amateur finals each with a 219

Barlow and Perry reign as 4-Year-Old Intermediate Co-Champions

Glenn Barlow, Gillette, Wyo., and Blake Perry, Foster, Okla., showing Cantebury Star and Doralee, respectively, tied with 219 points to each earn $10,034 as co-champions of the 20-horse Rio of Mercedes NCHA 4-Year-Old Intermediate Amateur, on Wednesday, April 14. Mason Mefford, Edmond, Okla., placed third with 218.5 points and earned $8,462 riding Yes Sir Will Do.

In addition to his co-championship earnings, Barlow also collected a $4,455 winner’s purse in the Amateur Intermediate Senior division and $3,898 for first in the Intermediate Gelding division.

Glenn Barlow, the NCHA earner of $503,304, has been a consistent limited age event money earner. He won Breeder's Invitational Unlimited Amateur championships in 2015 and 2018 riding full siblings Mr Connerey LTE $210,104 and Ferrarey LTE $140,460,  both sired by Dual Rey and bred by Barlow Livestock. Ferrarey also carried Barlow to place third in the 2017 NCHA Classic Challenge Unlimited Amateur.

In 2018, Barlow showed Shez Shameless to place fourth in the NCHA Futurity Limited Non-Pro and last year, he showed Cantebury Star to place sixth in the NCHA Futurity Unlimited Amateur.

Cantebury Star LTE $60,092, owned by Barlow Livestock Inc, was bred by Rodney Wrinkle Cutting Horses. The gelded son of Cantebury Cat is out of Mollys Dual Rey, an unshown Dual Rey daughter, who herself is a full sister to Rey To Play LTE $165,605, and half-sister to Playboys Molly Mac LTE $156,019 and Bob Acre Molly $147,182.

Blake Perry, the NCHA earner of $3,852, also showed Doralee LTE $2,620, by Once In A Blue Boon, as the highest advancing finalist to Wednesday’s 4-Year-Old Limited Amateur Finals. Doralee is the first money earner out of Dora Cat LTE $7,426, by Auspicious Cat.

NCHA Senior Youth competitor Mason Mefford, Edmund, Okla., scored 220 points on Sunday to top 318 entries in the first go-round of the Amateur competition. Riding Catty Hawk gelding Yes Sir Will Do LTE $5,681, 16-year-old Mefford scored 215 in the Semi-Finals to tie with Blake Perry and two other riders with the fourth-highest score advancing to the finals; Glenn Barlow and Cantebury Star qualified with 214.5 points.

Bred by Dan Churchill, Yes Sir Will Do is the first money earner out of the unshown One Time Pepto daughter Angelena Time, whose dam, Lena Jo Doc LTE $34,508, by Doc O Dynamite, won the 1991 Sunbelt Futurity and who has produced two NCHA money earners.
