Lucid Cat, Reyzin Amanda, The Mamba lead the Open semi-finals

Three-way tie for lead in 4-Year-Old Open Semi-Finals

Lucid Cat, by Metallic Cat, and Reyzin Amanda, by Reyzin The Cash, and The Mamba, by Metallic Cat, shown respectively by Kody Porterfield, RL Chartier and Casey Green, tied with the 221-point high score in the 2021 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Open Semi-Finals on Monday, April 12. Overtheboonforyou, by Once In A Blu Boon, and Metabra, by Metallic Cat, tied with 220.5 points under Sean Flynn and Zeb Corvin.

Lucid Cat LTE $15,425 and Kody Porterfield also placed second to earn $12,066 in the Super Stakes Intermediate Open Finals on March 31. Owned by Stanford Ranch Quarter Horses, Verhalen,Tex., and bred by Kelly Mahler, Lucid Cat is the first money earner out of the Spots Hot daughter Dark And Sultry LTE $84,728, a half-sister to earners of over $1.2 million out of Hissy Cat LTE $307,099.

Owned by Matt and Megan Miller, Poolville, Tex., Reyzin Amanda LTE $17,037 placed fourth earlier this year in the Ike Hamilton Open Derby with Matt. The second money earner out of Sweet Lil Amanda LTE $266,915, Reyzin Amanda is a full sister, by High Brow CD, to earners of $1,061,302, including Amandas CD LTE $283,571, shown by Matt Miller for Chris and Tracy Brengard.

The Mamba LTE $20,959 and Casey Green were Open finalists at the NCHA Futurity. Owned by XRC Ranch of Midland, Tex., The Mamba was bred by Fults Ranch out of Magic With Moves LTE $11,775, an NCHA Classic Challenge Limited Open finalist under Adan Banuelos.

Overtheboonforyou LTE $63,701 won the 2020 Brazos Bash 3-Year-Old Futurity and the 2020 Cotton Stakes Futurity under Sean Flynn for owner Joe Wood, Heber Springs, Ark. This year Flynn and the bay mare, who was bred by Pine Island Ranch, Deridder, La., have placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the finals of the Arbuckle Mountain Futurity and the Abilene Spectacular.

Owned by Stella Swanson, Midland, Tex., Metabra LTE $20,852, is a full sister to 2017 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Metallic Rebel LTE $411,886, in addition to eight other individual earners of $100,000-plus bred by Fults Ranch Ltd, Amarillo, Tex., out of Sweet Abra LTE $117,725, a leading producer of earners of over $1.7 million.

Metabra made her debut in the NCHA Futurity Open Limited Finals, where she and Corvin placed third. Two weeks ago they placed fourth in the NCHA Super Stakes 4-Year-Old Intermediate Open. In addition to Metabra, Corvin was also a 4-Year-Old Intermediate Open finalist riding Megician, by Metallic Cat, for Stella Swanson, and a 5-Year-Old Intermediate Open finalist on Swanson-owned Rosa Del Pepto LTE $74,764,  by One Time Pepto, and Tin Man LTE $40,426, by Metallic Cat.

The 2021 NCHA Kit Kat Sugar Super Stakes continues through Saturday, April 17.
