5/6 Ltd. Non-Pro Finals
Jody McGlothlin and Somethingtobelievein
Jody McGlothlin’s win aboard Somethingtobelievein in Wednesday’s NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited might not have been quite as thrilling as her win on the talented mare in the 2016 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited, but as their last run together in Will Rogers Coliseum, it was equally as significant. McGlothlin scored 222 points to claim the Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited championship, while Lucchese Cogdell took reserve with 219 points, and Kolby Don Moore placed third with 217.5 points, in the 12-rider field.
Somethingtobelievein, bred by Shane Plummer, has accumulated NCHA earnings of $240,191 under Jody and her husband, Brett, who trained the Hydrive Cat daughter. This year, Somethingtobelievein has carried Brett and Jody as finalists in 10 major limited age events, including the Augusta Futurity 5/6 Classic Non-Pro.
Jody McGlothlin’s first championship in Will Rogers Coliseum came in 2006, when she won the NCHA Derby Amateur title on Platinum Bob. She had shown only a few times in Fort Worth since then, when she claimed the 2016 Futurity Non-Pro Limited – with 222 points – on Somethingtobelievein. Jody and Brett live in Perrin, Tex.; Jody has lifetime NCHA earnings of $237,252.
Lucchese Cogdell, Tulia, Tex., won the 2007 NCHA $10,000 Amateur World Finals, when she was 10, and showed as a 2011 NCHA Futurity Amateur Finalist, when she was 14. Her mount in Wednesday’s Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited finals was Yall Im Countin, sired by Im Countin Checks and owned by her parents, Dick and Kippi Cogdell.
This year, Lucchese, the NCHA earner of $206,235, showed both Yall Im Countin LTE $28,293 and McLintockk LTE $40,111 as finalists in the NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Limited. She also placed with McLintockk in the Unlimited Amateur finals of the Abilene Spectacular 5/6 Classic and the Cattlemen’s Classic.
Kolby Don Moore, Crawfordville, Fla., was a 2018 NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro finalist aboard Highbrow Nadine LTE $44,262, his 2019 NCHA Classic Challenge Non-Pro Limited mount. In 2018, Moore and the gray daughter of High Brow CD claimed reserve in the Southern Futurity 5/6 Non-Pro Finals, and this year, they were reserve in the NCHA Eastern Nationals $25,000 Non-Pro Novice division. Moore is the NCHA earner of $112,375.
