A new record was set Monday, in Session I of Western Bloodstock Ltd.’s NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale, when Tin Man, by Metallic Cat, sold for $500,000. While Tuesday’s Session II of the 2-Year-Old Sale did not see another record-breaking price, it did see seven individual horses bring $100,000 or more.

In just two days of sales, 11 horses have sold for $100,000 or more, including Tuesday’s high seller, at $200,000, High CD Rates. The overall average for the two-day NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale was $30,805, with 71 % sales completed.

High CD Rates was consigned by Todd Nelson and purchased by Glade Knight/Slate River Ranch. The sorrel filly is a daughter of NCHA Horse of the Year and NCHA Futurity Open champion High Brow CD, a leading sire of money earners, who sells on Wednesday, December 5, in the Evening Session of the Preferred Breeders Session I. Dual Peppy Kitty, the dam of High CD Rates, is a half-sister to leading sire High Brow Cat.

Dual Clay

Todd Nelson was also the consignor of Dual Clay, a Dual Rey daughter who brought $140,000 from J Five Horse Ranch, Weatherford, Tex. Dual Clay’s dam, Play Like Clay LTE $78,844, is a producer of six NCHA money earners, and a half-sister to Clays Little Peppy LTE $209,770, dam of earners of $778,622.

Sams Playin Dirty, a sorrel colt by High Brow Cat, brought $115,000 from Kevin Knight, Scottsdale, Ariz., for consignor Diamond LK Cutting Horses. Sams Playin Dirty is out of Playboys Samantha, a full sister to eight earners of $426,391, including influential sire and broodmare sire Freckles Merada, sire of Meradas Little Sue LTE $670,098. Knight also purchased the Metallic Cat son Cat Urban, consigned and bred by Crown Ranch, out of Meradas Sly Cat LTE $82,704, for $100,000.

Circle Y Ranch, Millsap, Tex., purchased Iridescent Girl for $107,000 from Meinzer Livestock. Sired by Metallic Cat, Iridescent Girl is in training with Hunter Meinzer. Circle Y Ranch, owner of Im Countin Checks, a Top 15 NCHA Sire, also purchased Ordered In Metallic, by Metallic Cat, for $125,000 in Session I on Monday.

Kathleen Moore, Madill, Okla., placed the winning bid of $105,000 for Tweezin My Brow, a High Brow Cat daughter consigned by RAD Cattle. Tweezin My Brow is a full sister to Cat Atat Cat LTE $123,170 and Miss Stylish Katz LTE $101,022, and out of Miss Stylish Pepto LTE $224,930. Moore also purchased Rey Playin Up, a High Brow Cat daughter, for $100,000 from Carlon Performance Horses.
