Youth World Finals

Charles Russell Bushaw of Weatherford, Texas, laid down a 225 on Peptotoodie Charles Russell BushawsTuesday evening to take the first round of Junior Division of the High Brow CD NYCHA Youth World Finals. The World Finals continue on Wednesday and Saturday in Fort Worth’s historic Will Rogers Coliseum.

Bushaw came into the World Finals ranked third with 124 points, behind Ryann Packard (177) and Faith Farris (163).

Peptotoodie, an 8-year-old Peptotime mare, earned more than $157,000 and was Chisholm Trail Fall Futurity champion and Ike Hamilton Classic reserve champion under James Payne.

Bushaw won the Junior Youth title at the NCHA Eastern Nationals on Peptotoodie this spring. He was also an NCHA Futurity Non-Pro finalist last winter on Bellas Cat.

In Tuesday’s Junior Youth NYCHA Scholarship Cutting go-round, Madison Flynn Madison Flynnrode Cat Man Blue to a 226-point win.

Twenty riders marked 214 or better to advance to Friday’s finals.

Flynn’s mount, Cat Man Blue, is a 10-year-old stallion by High Brow Cat out of $594,000 earner Quintan Blue. Her dad, Sean Flynn, showed Cat Man Blue to earn more than $206,000.

Chance Cerny marked the second high score of the Scholarship go-round, a 224 on Mare E Hughes, while Cassie Cerny marked 219 on former Open Horse of the Year Copaspepto.

Jame Mitchell rode another Open Horse of the Year, Junie Wood, to a 218.5, while Emma Grace Rapp rode a former Non-Pro Horse of the Year, Reyzin, to a 218.
