Robert Tregemba, Lawrence, Kan., scored 215.5 points on Smooth Flow to win the $5,000 Novice Non-Pro Finals. Catherine Wunder, Stilwell, Kan., and Mark Robert TregembaPearson, Spearman, Tex., tied with 215 points for reserve, while Kim Adolf, Morristown, Ariz., scored 214.5 points.

Smooth Flow LTE $40,490, a 5-year-old gelded son of Smooth As A Cat, had already made his mark last week in the NCHA Denver Nationals when he placed third with Nate Miller in the $25,000 Novice division. He also carried Tregemba and trainer Kenny Platt as an Open and Amateur Unlimited finalist in the 2016 PCCHA Derby.

This past spring, Tregemba earned finalist checks in the NCHA Super Stakes as an Amateur Unlimited finalist on Stylish Brow LTE $12,469 and as a Super Stakes Classic Amateur finalist on Sleeper Cat LTE $28,856. Stylish Brow had also carried Tregemba as a 2016 NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited finalist.

Catherine Wunder earned her single richest NCHA check earlier this year as an NCHA Super Stakes Classic Amateur finalist riding Cdcatinthemirror, her NCHA Catherine WunderDenver Nationals $5,000 Novice Non-Pro reserve champion (tie). In 2016, Cdcatinthemirror carried Wunder, the NCHA earner of $71,691, to place in the finals of six major limited age events.

A 6-year-old son of CD Olena, Cdcatinthemirror also won the 2016 Nebraska Futurity Open championship under Ashley Baxstrom.

Mark Pearson, Spearman, Tex., is an NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame member with $868,018 in earnings. He won the 1999 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited on Possum Zack DG and came back in 2000 to win the NCHA Futurity Amateur championship riding Flo Little Lena. Mark Pearson

White Leg LTE $15,618, Spearman’s NCHA Denver $5,000 Novice Non-Pro mount, is a 4-year-old mare by Dual Smart Rey and a full sister, out of Meleena Olena, to SVR Reys Smart Chic $83,101.

Kim Adolf, the NCHA earner of $216,536, won the 2017 NCHA Scottsdale $5,000 Novice Non-Pro aboard Athenitall, her NCHA Denver Nationals mount. Last month, Adolf was also NCHA Scottsdale Nationals Non-Pro reserve champion and $25,000 Novice Non-Pro finalist on Smooth Criminal Cat LTE $63,888.

Athenitall LTE $22,867 is by Athena Puddy Cat and out of Uno Reba, by Smart Little Uno.
