Gingersnaps and Cromer topped the 4YO Open finals with a huge 228

Gingersnaps wins Arbuckle Mountain 4-Year-Old open Terry Riddle Memorial Futurity

Morgan Cromer, riding Gingersnaps LTE $22,286 for 7R Ranch LLC, Jackson, Wyo., scored 228 points on Thursday, February 25, to win $30,000, as champion of the Terry Riddle Memorial  Arbuckle Mountain Futurity. The Smooth Talkin Style daughter also collected $5,174 as the high-scoring 4-Year-Old Novice entry.

Catolena Cashin In LTE $63,455 claimed the reserve championship and $25,000 with 227.5 points, under Tarin Rice for Joel Colgrove, Boligee, Ala.; while Speak Easie LTE $21,424, ridden by Cass Tatum, scored 225 points to place third and collect $21,011 for Penny Wilson, Ardmore, Okla.

Bred by Flying V Ranch, Val Verde, Calif., Gingersnaps is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Catnaps LTE $79,920, who is a full sister to Kittens LTE $270,000 and Wildcats LTE $89,696, both also bred by Flying V Ranch, among earners of $533,962 out of Starlights Liz LTE $31,369, by Grays Starlight.

Morgan Cromer, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of over $3.5 million, was an NCHA Futurity finalist last year on Sallyfromthevalley LTE $41,256, by High Brow CD. She also won the 2016 NCHA Super Stakes 5/6 Classic on the Metallic Cat daughter Maid Of Metal LTE $205,615, and has won the PCCHA Futurity four times.

Catolena Cashin In, sired by Reyzin The Cash, was a finalist in the 2020 NCHA Futurity under Tarin Rice and the pair went on to win the 2021 Ike Hamilton Derby. Bred by Joel Colgrove, Catolena Cashin In is out of Dual Catolena LTE $37,917, a full sister to Cats Dual Lena LTE $97,174, among earners of $369,903 out of DPS Lenas Lucinda LTE $70,987, by Dual Pep.

Tarin Rice, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of over $2.6 million, whose wins include the 2012 NCHA Futurity (co-champion) on He Bea Cat LTE $401,384, by High Brow Cat, and the 2014 NCHA Derby on Miss Callie Cat LTE $146,426, a full sister to He Bea Cat.

Speak Easie, a Smooth Talkin Style daughter bred by Double Dove Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex., was an NCHA Futurity Open semi-finalist, as well as reserve champion of the NCHA Futurity Open Limited, under Cass Tatum. Speak Easie is a half-sister to Stevia LTE $51,501, by Kit Kat Sugar, out of the Dual Rey daughter SDP Miss Caba Rey, who is a full sister to Twice As Reycy LTE $194,141 and Here To Reymember LTE $153, 335, and a half-sister to High Brow Cougar LTE $156,266.

Cass Tatum is the NCHA earner of $123,519. In addition to Speak Easie, last year he showed that mare’s half-sister, Stevia, as the reserve champion of the 2020 Brazos Bash Open Limited and an NCHA Futurity Open semi-finalist.

The Arbuckle Mountain Futurity continues through Sunday, February 28.
