With a 225, KR Isadorable and Cox won the Cotton Stakes Open Derby

KR Isadorable and Lloyd Cox claim Cotton Stakes Open Derby 

 

KR Isadorable, owned by Kathleen Moore, Madill, Okla., scored 225 points in the 2020 Cotton Stakes Open Derby, in West Monroe, Louisana, on Tuesday, September 8, to give Lloyd Cox his third Cotton Stakes Derby championship win in four years. Cox won last year’s Cotton Stakes Derby on Ms Baby Cakes LTE $153,081, by Metallic Cat, and the 2017 Cotton Stakes Derby on Sweat Son LTE $120,002, also by Metallic Cat.

Boondexterous and Beau Galyean scored 222 points for the reserve championship, while Ahhh Honey Honey and Clay Johnson placed third with 221.5 points. 

Bred by James Karhan, Blanco, Tex., and sired by Hottish, KR Isadorable LTE $39,378 is out of KR Isadora Dual LTE $146,164, winner of the 2012 NCHA Super Stakes under Clay Johnson. KR Isadora Dual, a Smooth As A Cat daughter, is the dam of three money earners, including KR Isadorable’s full brother, Just Gettin Started LTE $161,313, and KR Isadora Royal LTE $66,277, by CD Royal.

Lloyd Cox, cutting’s all-time leading Open NCHA Hall of Fame earner of LTE $9,533,163, counts the NCHA Futurity, NCHA Super Stakes, NCHA Derby, and Breeders Invitational among his richest wins, but has won virtually every major event.

Boondexterous LTE $54,334  is owned by Belle Terre Ranch, Corinth, Miss., and was bred by Randle Tune, Whitesboro, Tex. Sired by Once In A Blu Boon, Boondexterous, who also won top money in the Cotton Stakes Derby Gelding division, is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Cats Smart Lady, the dam of six earners of $106,147.

Beau Galyean is the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $4,315,248, as well as winner, among many major events, of the NCHA Futurity and Breeders Invitational on Metallic Cat, and most recently, winner of the 2020 Cattlemen’s Derby on Rollz Royce LTE $323,014, by Dual Smart Rey.

Owned by William & Billie Aylesworth, Lipan, Tex., Ahhh Honey Honey LTE $17,708, by Hottish, was bred by Ashley Snider, Lipan, Tex., out of the unshown Dual Rey daughter Outreygeous Style. Ahhh Honey Honey was reserve champion of the 2020 Cattlemen’s Derby Open Ltd. and placed third in the Cattlemen’s Open Derby Ltd. under Johnson, as well.

Clay Johnson, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $1,232,567, won the 2013 NCHA Futurity on Dual Smart Kitty LTE $316,251, and the 2012 NCHA Super Stakes on KR Isadora Dual LTE $146,164.

The 2020 Cotton Stakes continues through Sept. 13.
