Nov 5, 2019, 12:17 PM by National Cutting Horse Association
October Executive Committee minutes are now available.
To the NCHA Members:

On Monday, October 28 and Tuesday, October 29 the NCHA Executive Committee met to review, discuss, and enact a number of items for the Association.

The two days of meetings were efficient and productive for all and provided positive changes forthcoming in 2020.

The full set of meeting minutes can be found here. Below is a summary of the topics discussed and decisions made:

FY2020 Financial Budget
  • Lance Bryson, Chief Financial Officer, presented the FY2020 Financial Budget; the Executive Committee approved the budget, with the consideration that a re-forecast would be performed after six (6) months of actuals data (Oct. 2019 – Mar. 2020) was available
  • The Association projects that more than $9M in premiums will be paid out to NCHA Members in FY2020
  • Operationally, Staff looks to reduce operating expenditures by approximately $700k, cap Legal expenditures, and add Staff positions to encourage membership services and engagement
  • The FY2020 Financial Budget shows the need to recognize, acknowledge and highlight all of our Association Members, specifically our Weekend and LAE Members
  • Staff is to provide analysis to the Executive Committee for the potential costs/benefits of modifying NCHA Approved Shows Standing Rule 14.b and Regulations for Limited Aged Events 6.a, regarding the 8% fee charged to Weekend and Small LAE
  • Once the FY2019 Financial Audit has been completed, and a corresponding auditors report is issued, the financial details will be published.
Medications Review National Circuit System
  • David Pilcher, National Circuit Task Force Committee Member, provided a status update regarding the research, development plan, and key task force members preparing a proposal for a Regional Circuit program. The proposal will look to attract and keep NCHA Competitors by creating prestige and motivation for increased participation at the local level who are not interested in, or cannot haul, for the World Championships, but who desire to compete and achieve in a smaller geographical area.
Class-Leveling
  • Shianne Megel, Director of Shows, presented a detailed execution plan regarding class-leveling, including a proposed schedule, entry forms and proposed fees
  • The Executive Committee voted to approve the class-leveling program and will be implemented at the 2020 Super Stakes
  • Details regarding show rules and entries will be available in the December Chatter. As well, Members will receive a separate communication once those details are available online.
