Hottish tie for the day

SF Hottish Lumi Cat and Hot Lookin Cat tied with the high score of 219 points on Thanksgiving, the last day of Open second go-round competition in the 2018 North Texas Chevy Dealers NCHA Futurity, presented by Great American Insurance.

First go-round winner Fracker Brown, shown by Chris Johnsrud for Schmitz/Brown, kept his high cumulative standing, which he tallied in Tuesday’s second go-round competition with 217 on top of 223 points from the first round.

Fifty-nine horses with scores of 432.5 points or higher advanced to the Open Semi-Finals on Saturday, December 8. While 23 horses with 430 or higher, led by Reycan In The Cash with 437 points, qualified for the Limited Open Finals on Wednesday, November 28.

Eighteen of the Limited Open finalists also qualified for the Open Futurity Finals, including SF Hottish Lumi Cat, shown by Foster Johnston for Linda Fielhaber, Jacksonville, Tex. The Hottish-sired colt earned a cumulative score of 435.

Bred by Linda Fielhaber, SF Hottish Lumi Cat is the first money earner out of Ima Phat Cat, an unshown High Brow Cat daughter whose dam, Luminosa Dunny ($57,437), by Parkman Bar, produced three NCHA performers with earnings of $15,664.

Hot Lookin Cat, shown by John Mitchell for Slate River Ranch, Weatherford, Tex., earned a cumulative of 434.5 points. The Hottish-sired gelding was bred by Glade Knight, out of the That Sly Cat daughter Fancy Lookin Cat ($136,307), dam of three NCHA earners of $51,497. Fancy Lookin Cat is a half-sister to Playin N Fancy Smart ($338,236).

Sugrspiznevrthingniz, shown by Matt Gaines for Jim Vangilder, earned 218 points, the second-highest score on Thursday, for a cumulative of 434.5 points. The Kit Kat Sugar daughter is the first money earner out of Jewels Gotta Lizzy ($10,776), a half-sister to Cats Royal Jewel ($275,348).

The 2018 North Texas Chevy Dealers NCHA Futurity continues on Friday with the first go-round of Non-Pro/Limited Non-Pro competition. The first round of NCHA Open and Non-Pro World Finals action begins in Watt Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, as well.
