Following Thursday’s second go-round of the NCHA/Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular Derby Non-Pro, 45 horses and 34 riders are set for Friday’s Semi-Finals. Ashely Flynn, Weatherford, Tex., winner of the first go-round with 221 points aboard Smooth Lines LTE $55,249, by Smooth As A Cat, leads the field with the high cumulative score of 436 points.

Scotty Rice, Weatherford, Tex., on Times Be Tuff $39,021, by Woody Be Tuff, and Regan Plendl, Kingsley, Iowa, on Cats Lightning Rey LTE $37,289, by NRR Cat King Cole, tied with 218.5 points, the high score of the second go-round. They also tied with 434.5 points, the second-highest cumulative score.

Plendl and Cats Lightning Rey scored 219.5 points in the first go-round, on Wednesday, to claim high score in the Limited Non-Pro division. The pair qualified for the Non-Pro Limited Finals on Saturday, June 4., where four other riders who also qualified for the Non-Pro Semi-Finals will also compete – Lauren Minshall on CR Sister Tuff $38,307, by Woody Be Tuff; Kenli Marvin and Cinderella Cat LTE $17,544, by Thomas E Hughes; Bridey Greeson on CR Smart Boots LTE $185,370, by Boon Too Suen; and Traci Shehady with You Cant Buy Love LTE $26,914, by Cats Gotta Diamond.

Cody Hedlund, Lipan, Tex., qualified for the Semi-Finals with three horses: Teles One Time, by One Time Royalty; Purrfect Reyflection LTE $3,485; by Dual Smart Rey, and Iggy Reyzalea LTE $66,657, by Dual Smart Rey. Hedlund, the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $874,567, placed third in the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finals with Iggy Reyzalea, and was sixth in the NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro on Teles One Time LTE $45,722.

Four riders each qualified for the Semi-Finals with two horses: Kristen Galyean, Claremore, Okla., on Duramax Dually LTE $111,556, by Dual Rey, and on Lightening Strike LTE $22,555, by Dual Rey; Kylie Rice, Weatherford, Tex., with Reyhannon LTE $21,621, by Metallic Cat, and on Fadie Lou LTE $33,622, by Woody Be Tuff; Ryan Rapp, Weatherford, Tex., on Manteca Moe LTE $60,187, by Hydrive Cat, and with Poor Lil Guy LTE $15609, by Kit Kat Sugar; and Bobby Ray Hawkins, Seguin, Tex., aboard CD Wood LTE $18,523, by High Brow CD, and on Taliate $115,946, by Metallic Cat.
