Youth Regional Finals

The NCHA is proud to announce the creation of an NYCHA Regional Finals. This event will be held in conjunction with the first-ever NYCHA BraveHearts Shootout.
At the end of the youth point year, on May 31st, the youth champions from each of the eight regions will be announced. In 2021, the champions from both the Junior and Senior division from each region will be invited to compete at the Regional Finals, which will be held in July on the opening day of the NYCHA Youth Convention Week in Fort Worth, Texas.
This will be a single go-round competition to crown a Regional Finals Champion in both the Junior and Senior divisions. Qualifications are already in place in the NCHA Rule Book.
Per the NCHA Rule Book, the following is how the awards process for the Regional Championship Shows is calculated:
- Top 5 money-earners in the Regional Championship Standings will receive Rod's spurs. (Youth classes will be based on points)
- The total number of shows attended in the region will be used to break ties
- *The Top 15 World Standing leaders qualifying for the World Finals will be excluded from all Regional Championship awards because they will be receiving National awards.
What makes this event special, besides creating a Youth Regional Finals, is that our top juniors and seniors from each of the eight regions will be teamed with a veteran from BraveHearts. Each veteran will be trained by some of NCHA's top trainers and will spend a few days with the trainers prior to the event. The draw will be conducted in the 1st week of June to announce the teams.
The BraveHearts program has been nationally recognized for providing equine-assisted services to veterans. BraveHearts has the largest equine-based program in the nation for military veterans comprised of riding, ground activities, and gentling wild mustang.
The NYCHA BraveHearts Shootout will be an NCHA-sanctioned show.
At this event, each of our regional champions will be teamed with a veteran from BraveHearts and will compete for the 2021 NYCHA BraveHearts Shootout Team Champion.
More information regarding the event will be forthcoming. For information on how to get volunteer during this event please contact one of the following people:

Reytheon Scholarship
The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) is proud to announce the addition of $10,000 in scholarships to be awarded to National Youth Cutting Horse Association (NYCHA) members at the 2021 NYCHA Regional Finals Championship in memory of Reytheon.
Reytheon (Dual Rey X Teninos Taco X Tenino San) was shown by numerous NYCHA members throughout his outstanding show career in Youth competition, limited age events and costume classes alike. With a lifetime earnings of over $216,000 and 257 Youth points, Reytheon certainly left his mark in the show pen.
The $10,000 donation in Reytheon’s honor to NYCHA Scholarships to be awarded at the 2021 NYCHA Regional Finals Championship will allow him to once again leave a lasting impact on NYCHA members.
“On behalf of the NYCHA program, I want to thank Christine King and everyone that is associated with Reytheon for this generous donation,” Mike Simmons, NCHA director of youth. “Our goals to continue to grow the NYCHA and the opportunities for youth scholarships could not be possible without contributions like this.”
The inaugural NYCHA Regional Finals Championship will take place in Fort Worth, Texas during NYCHA Youth Convention Week in July 2021. Champions from each of the eight NCHA regions will be invited to compete in both the Junior Youth and Senior Youth classes.
