Exciting Changes to the 2023 Weekend Amateur Eligibility Calculations

2023 Weekend / Championship show will see a new definition of what earnings are included when determining Weekend / Championship class Amateur Eligibility.  The information below spells out the new calculation methodology.

Unlimited Amateur Weekend Class is open to all riders that:

  1. Hold an Amateur card AND
  2. Are NOT in the Non-Pro Rider Hall of Fame AND
  3. Are OVER the age of 60 OR UNDER the age of 60 and have not won more than $250,000 in Non-Pro earnings*.

*WHAT ARE NON-PRO EARNINGS?

  1. INCLUDES - All monies won in Limited Age Event Non-Pro classes (anything with the word Non-Pro in it) 
  2. INCLUDES - All monies won in the Weekend / Championship show Non-Pro class
  3. EXCLUDES - All monies won in Weekend / Championship classes where earnings are on the horse ($25,000 Novice Horse Non-Pro and $5,000 Novice Horse Non-Pro)
  4. EXCLUDES - All monies won in the Weekend / Championship show $35,000 Non-Pro class
  5. EXCLUDES - All monies won at Challenger/Circuit shows

$50,000 Amateur Weekend Class is open to all riders that:

  1. Hold an Amateur card AND
  2. Have not won more than $50,000 in eligibility (qualified) earnings+ at the beginning of the point year.

+WHAT ARE ELIGBILITY (QUALIFIED) EARNINGS?

  1. INCLUDES - All monies won in AMATEUR classes prior to December 1, 1995
  2. INCLUDES - All monies won in any / all APPROVED NCHA classes after December 1, 1995
  3. INCLUDES - All monies won in ALL classes beginning with the 2004 point year
  4. EXCLUDES - All monies won in Senior Limited Age Event classes
  5. EXCLUDES - All monies won in the Eastern or Western National Championships
  6. EXCLUDES - All monies won during the COVID moratorium
  7. EXCLUDES - All monies won in Breed Registry World Show cutting earnings
  8. EXCLUDES - All monies won in Circuit Finals that were won in the working or non-working finals

 

    Limited Age Event Amateur earnings calculations do not change.

    Leveled Top Tier Amateur / Intermediate Amateur / Limited Amateur - Please reference the Leveling Rules.
