Steve Anderson scores 224-point win in Classic Non-Pro

2018 Lucas Oil NCHA Super Stakes – April 12, 2018 – Fort Worth, Tex.

NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Famer Steve Anderson, Victoria, Tex., and Littlemak covered all the bases with a 224-point win in the Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro. Alexa Stent, Aledo, Tex., claimed reserve with 223.5 points on Bowmerang, and Michelle Cowan, Ardmore, Okla., and Brandon Westfall, Los Olivos, Calif., split 3/4 with 218 points.

Steve Anderson, the NCHA earner of $732,177, has collected checks as a Non-Pro Triple Crown competitor in the NCHA Futurity, the NCHA Super Stakes and the NCHA Derby. In 2008, he placed tenth in the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finals aboard ARC Cattyboonsmal LTE $85,296, by Peptoboonsmal; earlier that same year he won the Abilene Spectacular 5/6 Non-Pro with Guys Little Jewel $147,713, by Dualin Jewels.

In 2012, Anderson was reserve champion of the NCHA Derby Non-Pro riding Smooth N Cattacular LTE $121,281, by Smooth As A Cat; and in 2017, he placed seventh in the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Finals and won the Gelding division on Anderson Ranch-bred Little Jo Cat LTE $118,109, by High Brow Cat. Little Jo Cat also won the 2017 NCHA Futurity Open Limited championship under Anderson Ranch trainer Pedro Ornelas.

Alexa Stent, the NCHA earner of $334,102, was a finalist in the 2011 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro riding Little Bow Pepto LTE $134,559,  who she bred, and who is a half-sister, by Peptoboonsmal, to Bowmerang LTE $68,044, by High Brow Cat, Stent’s 2018 Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro reserve champion, bred by Peter and Nora Stent, Alexa’s parents.

Six-year-old Bowmerang is out of Bowman’s Little Jewel LTE $76,636, by Smart Little Lena, also the dam of Stylish Little Bow LTE $231,164, by Docs Stylish Oak; Big Bow Peepto LTE $157,917, by Peptoboonsmal; Little Bow Peepto LTE $134,559, by Peptoboonsmal; Bowmans Cat LTE $157,811, by High Brow Cat; and Zacks Bowman LTE $119,749, by Zack T Wood.

Michelle Cowan, the NCHA earner of $414,313, showed Shes Full Of Hope LTE $138,350, by Smart Mate. Brandon Westfall, the earner of $367,407, showed Laguna Girl LTE $59,119, by CD Royal.
