Sweet win for Sweat Son in PCCHA Futurity 4yo

Sweat Son, by Metallic Cat, scored 221.5 points under Lloyd Cox to win the 2017 PCCHA Futurity Open 4-year-old finals and $16,000 on Tuesday, October 10, in Las Vegas. Betchalou, shown by Morgan Cromer, and SVR Caught Ya Lookin, with Grant Setnicka, each scored 219 points to earn $12,500 and split second and third.

This was the third major win in 2017 for Sweat Son LTE $71,665, who is owned by N.W. VandeSteeg, Hailey, Idaho. The red roan stallion also won the Cotton Stakes with Cox and the Pacific Coast Winter Roundup with Tom Shelly, and placed second in the PCCHA Cutting Stakes with Cox.

Shown exclusively in open competition by Cromer, Betcha Lou LTE $90,844, a gelding sired by Bet Hesa Cat and owned by Clarke Butte Ranch, Bend, Ore., was an open finalist (7th) in the NCHA Super Stakes, where he won the Novice division and placed second in the Open Gelding division. He also won the PCCHA Derby Novice division.

SVR Caught Ya Lookin LTE $38,678, sired by Dual Rey and owned by Carmel Cutting Horses, Carmel, Calif., won the El Rancho Futurity Open Novice with Setnicka, as well as the El Rancho 4-Year-Old Amateur championship with Taylor Deregt. He also claimed the PCCHA Derby Non-Pro Novice division under Tom Deregt.

Lloyd Cox also placed fourth in the 14-horse PCCHA Derby Finals riding Copperish LTE $117,805, sired by Metallic Cat and owned by Jimmie Miller Smith, Geary, Okla.
