2017 Breeders Invitational

Hot off a win in the Breeders Invitational 5/6 Unlimited Amateur, Katherine Wendels Little MissyVanboekel, Ontario, Can., came to Fort Worth and earned the NCHA Classic Challenge Rios of Mercedes Unlimited Amateur championship. Riding Wendels Little Missy LTE $121,997, her Breeders Invitational mount, Vanboekel scored 221 points for the win. Jimmy Baros, Blanco, Tex., marked 218 points as reserve champion on Two Time Dual; Glenn Barlow, Gillette, Wyo., placed third with 216.5 points on Ferrarey.

Vanboekel, the NCHA earner of $88,227, also placed seventh in the NCHA Classic Challenge Unlimited Amateur and Amateur divisions on 6-year-old Sweet EE Motion LTE $68,633, by Cat Ichi. Vanboekel had shown Sweet EE Motion as reserve champion of the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Amateur.

Vanboekel also showed Wendels Little Missy to claim the 5/6 Amateur reserve championship of the 2017 Breeders Invitational. A 5-year-old daughter of High Brow CD, Wendels Little Missy made her debut in the 2015 NCHA Futurity, where she was Open Limited reserve champion under Ben Johnson.

Including her winner’s purse of $12,068 on Wendels Little Missy in the Unlimited Amateur and her seventh-place earnings on Sweet EE Motion, Vanboekel, who is entered to show both horses in next week’s Non-Pro competition, has already earned $26,524 at the 2017 Summer Spectacular.


Jimmy Baros and Two Time Dual LTE $110,090 made their presence known in Two Time Dualthe 2017 NCHA Super Stakes, where they won the Classic Unlimited Amateur championship, took reserve in the Classic Amateur, and championship titles in the Classic Senior Unlimited Amateur and the Classic Senior Amateur. In addition to this week’s Classic Challenge Unlimited Amateur reserve title, Two Time Dual also carried Grant Setnicka as a finalist in last week’s Classic Challenge Open Finals.

Sired by Dual Rey, 5-year-old Two Time Dual is out of Lil Lena Long Legs LTE $189,672 and half-brother to Sir Long Legs LTE $214,682 and Cat Belue $189,189. Jimmy Baros is the NCHA earner of $72,127.

Glenn Barlow, NCHA earner of $325,363, was a 2012 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro, Non-Pro Limited and Amateur finalist on Mr Connerey LTE $186,702, a horse bred by Barlow. Mr Connerey was 2015 NCHA Amateur Horse of the Year with Barlow. Ferrarey LTE $85,333 and Mr Connerey are full siblings, by Dual Rey and out of Cats Good Intentions LTE $106,229, by High Brow Cat.

Barlow showed Ferrarey as a finalist in the 2017 NCHA Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro and Non-Pro Limited, and was also the Super Stakes Classic Non-Pro Senior champion.
