NYCHA scholarship cuttings

Through the generous support of many donors, NYCHA is able to provide college scholarships to youth members based on their performance in the cutting arena. These scholarships are awarded at the following events:

  • Wayne Hodges Trailers * Outlaw Conversions Eastern National Championships
    The top 10 contestants in NCHA's affiliate or area standings are eligible to compete in the 12 approved Championship classes.
    $1,000 awarded to Champion and Reserve Champion in both the Junior and Senior divisions
  • Wayne Hodges Trailers * Outlaw Conversions Western National Championships
    The top 10 contestants in NCHA's affiliate or area standings are eligible to compete in the 12 approved Championship classes.
    $1,000 awarded to Champion and Reserve Champion in both the Junior and Senior divisions
  • NCHA Summer Spectacular presented by Great American Insurance
    $21,000 awarded to the top ten finalists in both the Junior and Senior divisions and an additional $7,500 awarded to youth finalists who are riding a horse owned by an immediate family member.
  • In addition, NCHA organizes NCHA Weekend during which shows are held for all 25 NCHA Regions in the USA and Canada.
    $500 will be awarded at each of the 25 NCHA areas in the form of two $250 scholarships. Check with your local affiliate for additional scholarships provided by the NCHA affiliate.

Guidelines for Payment of Scholarships Awarded
at Youth Scholarship Events

  • Funds are to be used for the payment of tuition, fees, books, or room and board for the current term. Checks will be made jointly to the school and student. Payment will not be made directly to the student.
  • Educational institution attended must be an accredited university, college or trade school.
  • Payment will be made upon receipt of a written request from student with proof of enrollment and a copy of invoices from the institution showing amounts to be paid.
  • Initial use of funds must begin before reaching the age of 25, if not used by this time, funds will be returned to the Youth Committee to become available for other scholarships.
  • Grades are not to be a determinant for continued use by a properly enrolled student.
  • Interest will be paid on funds while in the custodianship of NCHA.
