DVD Requirements and Instrucions

Effective 2007 Point Year

  1. A DVD camcorder is NOT required. A regular VHS camcorder will be sufficient as long as it has an audio/video output. Almost all recorders have this.
  2. At least one DVD recorder will be needed. These can be purchased for about $150-$200 each.
  3. After approximately every 2 classes (or 40 horses), you should transfer the classes to the DVD recorder and finalize the DVD recording. This should take about 4 minutes for every 40 horses. This process can be done easily during the cattle changes throughout the day.
  4. Please make sure that the recorder is NOT set on a mode setting that is longer than two hours. Any more than two hours of playing time will reduce the picture quality drastically on DVDs.
  5. The best type of disk to use is DVD-R (minus R). This type is compatible with most players and computers.
  6. To make two DVD copies at the same time throughout the day, you should “loop” a second DVD recorder by taking a cable from the first DVD recorder audio/visual output and send it to the audio/visual input in the second recorder.
  7. The only DVD that a judge should have to wait for is for the last 40 horses which will take about 4 minutes to finalize.
